Moevyng 31st

-I had only ever seen Zamorak from afar before today. The meeting of the Legatus, when all the Generals gather, is in less than a week. Zamorak is the first to arrive with his troops. I watched them ride in from the Temple balcony. I actually ran into him after going to Palkeera’s office to fetch her ink. Palkeera color-codes all her notes. Purple in for religious matters, green for economic, red for war, and blue for personal reflection. Dire matters are recorded in white ink on black paper.

Zamorak came around the corner, reading a book, just as I did and I collided with his hip. Ink spilled on his armor. I thought he was going to kill me, all I could think of was the stories that I’ve heard of him on the battlefield drenched in blood, cutting down humans in such terrible joy. I really thought I was dead. My heartbeat was choking me.

But Zamorak just stared down at me, closing his book quietly. He looked somewhere between confused and concerned, probably because I’m pretty sure I was gasping for air though my fear at that point. He is enormous is stature and the embellishments on his robes practically make him a monument. He didn’t even seem to notice the ink marring the surface of his metal shell. I was shaking horribly.

He told me to ‘Stop that’, to 'Breath normally', and began asking me questions. Just little questions; Things about myself and Palkeera, the on-goings in the Temple, and such. He never snapped at me once, only spoke with firm authority. I didn’t want to be disrespectful of the Legatus Maximus or shame my Mentor, but I simply could not stop shaking in my body or voice.

Zamorak invited me to walk with him. When I carefully insisted that I return to Palkeera with the remaining ink, he fixed me with those piercing eyes. Mahjarrat have the eyes of predators. It had been a command, not a suggestion. I walked with him for a long time as he led me, answering ‘Yes, Sir’ or ‘No, Sir’ to his inquiries. When he was done, he dropped me off with Palkeera, but not before resting a heavily armored hand on my head. He encouraged me to work hard and continue being useful to the Mahjarrat. Then he left us.

I don’t know why I wouldn’t continue to ‘be useful to the Mahjarrat’. I’m not exactly sure what he means by that. Palkeera said that he means to continue to do as they say and be more or less submissive to their ranks; it was just stated in an awkward manner.  He commands armies, not civilian students; He has a more direct way of speaking.

I’m just glad he didn’t kill me. I’m not sure how well ink comes off of armor.
Yes, it is he, Zamorak! Behold, for he is ink-stained and somehow not at all angry. He remembers her being around as a younger child. Now, if any OTHER student and dumped ink on him, that MIGHT have gone differently. Being the assistant to a Mahjarrat does have its protective benefits.

:>-NOTE-<: The lorefails. There WILL be lorefails in this series. Please remember that this is a fanfiction and touches on many subjects either very loosely mentioned or not mentioned at all in the game. Assumptions will be made.
